One of the most sought after surgeries, not only for cosmetic reasons but also for visual ones, is the eyelid lift (or blepharoplasty).  Now that the summer is over and Christmas is fast approaching, the gift of eyesight and/or cosmetic eyelid rejuvenation through a lift may be quite a generous one, either for yourself or for a loved one.

As excessive or redundant skin begins to form on the upper eyelids it can cause them to start weighing down those eyelids and affecting the vision.  Not only does the peripheral  vision suffer, but most people claim that they either need more light or simply elevate their upper eyelids to see more clearly.  When those droopy eyelids begin to interfere with the enjoyment of life, be it reading, driving, playing sports, and so on, then it is time for surgical repair via an eyelid lift.

The procedure of blepharoplasty (eyelid lift) is very straight forward.  The precise amount of skin to be removed is measured and marked prior to surgery.  In fact, the incision is made at the natural eyelid crease so that the scar of the procedure will be buried within that crease, and would not be visible when the eyes are open. After the excessive skin and fat are removed, then the eyelid is sutured tightly, with those sutures being removed approximately 7-10 days later.

Post surgery, individuals are highly satisfied, not only due to the improved cosmetic and youthful appearance that is brought forth by the surgery, but more importantly due to the improved peripheral and central vision.  In fact, most people experience such drooping of the eyelids over a prolonged and slow period of time.  They get so used to their appearance and their vision that they never complain until after the surgery when they realize what they had been missing.

Again, remember that you can treat yourself or a loved one to an eyelid lift in order to improve the cosmetic appearance of your eyelids thereby obtaining a more youthful and rejuvenated appearance.  In addition, of course, you will allow more light into your eyes thereby improving your vision.
